Tottenham Hotspur 3 - 0 Bolton Wanderers

Brad Friedel and Tottenham Hotspur continued their strong Premier League play with a win over Bolton Wanderers this weekend.

Gareth Bale, Aaron Lennon, and Jermain Defoe were the goal scorers for Tottenham on the night the team recorded their sixth league win in a row.

It was a fast start for Spurs, as a Luka Modric corner found Gareth Bale who tapped home the opening goal.

The day turned worse for Bolton after Gary Cahill received a red card after his foul on Scott Parker in the 17th minute.

In the 50th minute Lennon and Spurs took advantage of the debilitated Wanderers. On a quick counter attack, Lennon was able to pass two defenders and shoot past Bolton goalie Jussi Jaaskelainen.

Just ten minutes later Spurs grabbed their third goal of the game after a Modric corner was flicked on by Bale and knocked home by Defoe.

Paul Robinson and Dedryck Boyota received yellow cards for Bolton.

Tottenham travels to play Stoke City next week while Bolton hosts Aston Villa.

Aston Villa 0 - 1 Manchester United

Brad Guzan got his first taste of Premier League play this season in Aston Villa's loss to Manchester United on Saturday.

Guzan came in for the injured Shay Given in the 38th minute. The American ‘keeper held United to zero goals in his time as goalie.

Phil Jones was the goal scorer for Manchester United, as his first half goal was enough to put away the Villians.

It was the 20th minute when United scored the game's lone goal, as a Nani cross was volleyed home by Jones.

United were the stronger team on the day, as Villa rarely caused Manchester any problems.

Despite United's superiority, Guzan was only asked to come up big on one occasion. The American international stopped an Ashley Young shot just before the former Villian was subbed off in the 78th minute.

Villa travels to play Bolton next week while United has Champions League duty on Wednesday against FC Basel.

Everton 0 - 1 Stoke City

Tim Howard and Everton went down at home against Stoke City.

Howard started and went the distance in Everton's tough loss at Goodison Park.

Robert Huth put Stoke up in the 15th minute when he redirected a shot after an initial corner kick from Matt Etherington.

The loss denied Everton, who were jumped by Stoke in the standings and are now in tenth place, their shot at a third straight win.

Everton travel to London next week to play Arsenal while Stoke hosts Tottenham.

Cardiff City 1 - 0 Birmingham City

Jonathan Spector and Birmingham City were held scoreless in their loss to Cardiff City in Championship action.

Spector started and played 75 minutes for Birmingham.

It only took a few minutes for Cardiff to take advantage, as they took the lead when a weak attempt at a clearance by Birmingham center back Pablo Ibañez found Kenny Miller who scored.

Cardiff next play Millwall while Birmingham take on Hull City on Wednesday.
