JOHN KRETLOW - Tuesday, December 6, 2011
The third round draw for the FA Cup was announced this week and a plethora of Americans will be involved.

Not only the notables such as Tim Howard, Clint Dempsey, and Brad Friedel will play for their Premier League sides, but many of the Americans plying their trade in the lower leagues of English Soccer will also take part.

Howard and Everton take on Conference National minnows Tamworth FC, while Brad Friedel and Tottenham Hotspur will host Cheltenham Town of League Two.

Clint Dempsey and Fulham were drawn to play former Premier League side Charlton Athletic and will get to play at Craven Cottage.

Aston Villa will travel to play Bristol Rovers, and because of the injury to Shay Given, Brad Guzan could play a vital role for the Villains.

Zak Whitbread is healthy again but has not seen the field yet for Norwich City in league play. The center back could get his chance to impress in City's game against Burnley.

Americans playing in the English Championship will also participate. Robbie Findley looks to help Nottingham Forest as they host fellow Championship team Leicester City. Jonathan Spector and Birmingham City will have their hands full with Premier League's Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Anton Peterlin and Walsall still need to play Millwall in a second round replay. Dagenham & Redbridge await the winner in the third round.

The same goes for Jemal Johnson and Southend United, as they take on Oldham Athletic next week with hopes of clashing with Liverpool at Anfield.

Rounding out the Americans in the FA Cup is John Paul Pittman, who hopes to help Crawley Town in their clash with Bristol City.

These games will take place on January 7th and 8th.
