BRIAN SCIARETTA - Thursday, December 15, 2011
It was announced today that US national team forward Landon Donovan will return to Everton in January for a brief two month loan through February 25.

Donovan, 29, was loaned to Everton for a similar two month stint in 2010 and was effective during his time in the English Premier League scoring two goals in ten games.

Donovan is coming off a successful season with the Los Angeles Galaxy who won the MLS Cup and had the best record during the regular season.

Donovan is the all-time leading scorer for the United States national team with 46 goals in 138 caps.

Following the end of his loan on February 25, Donovan will likely play for the US national team in a friendly game rumored to take place on February 29. He will then return to the Galaxy for a CONCACAF Champions League game on March 7.

He already went to England and played at the top level and looked good. He's going to do it again this year so what is your real issue with Donovan?

Donovan will never move abroad permanently. He has this image as the best US player ever and moving to the much better competition will only hurt that image.

Donovan is a very overrated player and he knows that if he goes to England and doesn't play at a top level, its going to make him look bad.

Hope he scores a hattrick on Friedel.

Recent trash talking aside, this should be the charge Landon needs to rediscover his passion for club and country.
