BRIAN SCIARETTA - Thursday, December 29, 2011
Diego Restrepo today signed a contract with 2010/11 Venezuelan Champions and Copa Libertadores-bound Deportivo Táchira and will join the club next month for preseason.

The deal was confirmed to YA by a source close to Restrepo.

Restrepo was previously with America de Cali. In the latter part of the season he emerged as the team's starter but he could not save the Colombian club from being relegated.

Restrepo will now move to Venezuela and join Deportivo Táchira, a club that is coming off a disappointing Apertura season in the fall where they finished in 13th place in the 18 team league.

This spring they will be playing in the Clausura tournament as well as the Copa Libertadores - which they qualified for by virtue of winning the 2010/11 title.

Deportivo Táchira is in a Copa Libertadores group with Corinthians, Cruz Azul, and Nacional Asuncion.

I hate to be the harbinger of bad news, ladies and gentlemen, but Michael Orozco will start for the US men's national team in Jacksonville.
