PREVIEW: AS ROMA - CHIEVO VERONA
PREVIEWS
EXTRA TIME
SCOTT PETERSON - Saturday, January 7, 2012
The Flying Donkeys will look to build on a respectable first half of the Serie A season with another good showing in the Italian capital as they take on AS Roma.

The New Year is starting where last year ended for Michael Bradley and Chievo Verona: Rome. Before the short winter break, Bradley and Chievo took on Lazio in the Stadio Olimpico in a match that they were unlucky not to win. Head coach Mimmo di Carlo will be hoping for a repeat performance from his troops as they take on a very stacked AS Roma team.

Di Carlo will be able call upon all his resources to field a team capable of giving the Romans fits, and his projected starting 11 will include Bradley as a holding midfielder in a 4-3-1-2, which is the same formation Chievo used against Lazio.

The big topic at the moment for Roma is whether or not Squadra Azzura midfielder Danielle de Rossi is going to stay or make a switch in the January transfer window to Manchester City. Assuming that de Rossi lines up for Roma, head coach Luis Enrique will only be without one regular as Chilean midfielder David Pizarro flew home to attend to personal matters.

The Romans will surely pose a formidable attacking threat with Fernando Gago, the aforementioned de Rossi and young Miralem Pjanic behind former Barca striker Bojan Krkic, Manuel Lamela and Mr. Roma himself Francesco Totti.

Roma comes into the contest in 6th place with 24 points, while Chievo has 20 and is 5 spots back.

Kickoff is scheduled for 3p.m. local time in the Stadio Olimpico on Sunday.
