PREVIEW: WEEKEND ISRAELI ACTION
EXTRA TIME
BRIAN SCIARETTA - Friday, January 13, 2012
Bryan Gerzicich and league leading Kiryat Shmona face a difficult test when they visit Bnei Sakhnin while Maccabi Netanya look to rebound from a difficult loss when they host Hapoel Acre.

Bnei Sakhnin - Kiryat Shmona

Kiryat Shmona have not lost since August and they will aim to extend their lead on first place when they visit fourth place Bnei Sakhnin on Saturday.

Bryan Gerzicich will start for Kiryat Shmona in his usual defensive midfield position.

Kiryat Shmona's defense has been the cornerstone of the team's success as they have only conceded eight goals through 20 games on the season. In their last game, they cruised to a 2-0 win over Ironi Rishon Lezion to remain six points clear in first place.

Bnei Sakhnin have only one point in their last two games but still sit in fourth place with 32 points through 20 games. Last weekend they played to a scoreless draw against Maccabi Haifa.

For Kiryat Shmona, Barak Badash is still likely out with a leg injury.

Maccabi Netanya - Hapoel Acre

After allowing a late goal against Beitar Jerusalem, Maccabi Netanya will hope to return to winning ways when they host Hapoel Acre on Saturday at Sar Tov Stadium

University of California alum Leo Krupnik is likely to start in central defense for Maccabi Netanya.

Maccabi Netanya currently sit in eighth place but the standings remain very tight in the middle of the table. Netanya could rise as high as fourth place with a win.

Hapoel Acre will be without Nebojsa Marinkovic who will serve a red card suspension in the match.

Notes

Ryan Adeleye has had erratic playing time the past month but he could see minutes for Hapoel Be'er Sheva on Saturday when they visit Maccabi Tel Aviv.
