After trialling with Everton FC of the Premiership last week, American Edson Buddle has arrived at KVC Westerlo of the Belgian First Division where he is considering signing on with the Flemish side.
"We are looking to give him a contract," Westerlo representative Tom Nelsen told YA this afternoon. "We've looked at videos of him and know that he is a talented player. "
Buddle, who is on the books of FC Ingolstadt 04 of the German Second Division, is in search of a new place to call home.
"At the moment everything is arranged with his German team," Nelsen continued. "And we are sure he can be a big star for us."
"Right now he is undecided about signing for the team. He is looking at his options. We don't know what his plans are but we are trying to convince him to come and play for us."
The US Nat, who hit the back of the net against Slovenia last November, could suit up for De Kempeneers as soon as this weekend if he signs and has his work permit cleared.
"We have some big games coming up and we would love to have him playing striker in those games. All we are waiting for is for him to say yes."
If he decides on a Belgian adventure, the New Yorker would face Sacha Kljestan and Anderlecht in league action in mid-February.
"It would be a gift for us if he decides to play for Westerlo!"
