On Tuesday, Atlanta native and former University of South Carolina goalkeeper Jimmy Maurer signed with Chilean Primera club Universidad de Concepcion.

Maurer's contract with Universidad de Concepcion is for one year but the club has options for three additional years.

After impressing at Universidad de Concepcion on trial, Maurer will likely begin his time at the club as the number two keeper behind Paraguayan Cristian Britez.

In the 2011 Chilean Primera Clausura tournament, Universidad de Concepcion finished in 14th place in the 18 team league.

After a draw in the opening game of the 2012 Apertura season, Universidad de Concepcion will host Audax Italiano this Friday.
