CHRISTOPHER MCCOLLUM - Friday, February 17, 2012
Jose Torres and Pachuca will try to gain the top spot this week, while Herculez Gomez will hope to get back on the field for Santos Laguna.

Pachuca - America

Jose Torres will continue his starting role in Pachuca's midfield as they try to climb up to the number one position in the standings as they take on America. They are one point behind Tigres and Santos Laguna.

Pachuca currently has the best offense in the league, with 11 goals after six games. They are riding a hot streak that has them as one of only two undefeated teams left in the Primera Division. America sits behind Pachuca by three points,

Both teams will have all players available.

Santos Laguna - Monterrey

Herculez Gomez sat out last week in Santos's loss to Morelia, and will be looking at getting back into action as Santos hosts 4th place Monterrey.

Santos is still looking to get their offense firing on all cylinders, while Monterrey, two points back, will be hoping for ambitious leap into the top of the standings with a victory.

Both teams will have all players available.

Tijuana - Queretaro

Edgar Castillo will be back on the field, and Joe Corona could see action as well after starting in last week's scoreless tie with Cruz Azul.

Tijuana is winless in their last three, but have two ties to keep them within four points of the lead. A win over Queretaro could move them back into contention for the top spot. Queretaro sits in 16th place with the worst defense in the league.

Queretaro will be without starting midfielder German Alemanno due to red card suspension.

Puebla - Morelia

DaMarcus Beasley was instrumental in Puebla's victory last week, stepping on the field and recording an assist a few plays later. After another week of recovery from his bruise suffered two games ago, he will be hoping to get back into the starting lineup.

Puebla's rocky start to the season has been improving, with three positive results in a row leading into their game with 5th place Morelia. Puebla has climbed up to 11th and another victory could see them jump well into the top half of the standings.

Both teams will have all players available.

San Luis - Chivas

Michael Orozco will likely continue his starting role in the center of San Luis's porous defense as they take on bottom dwelling Chivas.

In a game that might see more own goals than shots on goal, the battle between two of the three worst defenses in the league could be an entertaining spectacle of folly.

In 12 games, the two teams have allowed 20 goals and scored only nine.

Both teams will have all players available.

Jonathan Bornstein will likely be on the bench, but Victor Garza will probably not dress as Tigres take on Atlas.

Marco Vidal is unlikely to play for Club Leon against Pumas Morelos.
