Tim Ream featured at midfield in Bolton's loss to Manchester City, while Clint Dempsey scored two goals in Fulham's thrashing of Wolverhampton.

Manchester City 2 - 0 Bolton Wanderers

Tim Ream and Bolton Wanderers went down to Premier League leaders Manchester City this weekend.

Ream started and went the distance, but was deployed as a midfielder rather than in his traditional central defense role for Bolton.

The move to put Ream up in the formation was seen as a defensive move by Bolton, as they added another natural centerback to the field in Zak Knight.

Despite Bolton's defensive mindset, City was on the offensive for the majority of the game. They opened the scoring in the 23rd minute after Bolton's Gretar Rafn Steinsson deflected a Gael Clichy ball to the back of the net the the delight of the home fans.

Mario Balotelli then doubled the lead in the 69th minute when he back heeled an Adam Johnson pass for the goal.

Manchester City takes on Swansea City in Premier League play next week, while hosts Queens Park Rangers.

Stoke City 1 - 0 Norwich City

Zak Whitbread and Norwich City were defeated by Stoke City at the Britannia Stadium in Premier League action this weekend.

Whitbread started and went the distance for the Canaries.

The game even for the majority of the game, but Matthew Etherington collected a Cameron Jerome flick on in the 72nd minute and shot home for Stoke.

To that point, Norwich's ‘keeper John Ruddy was having a spectacular day keeping the Canaries in the game. It was not enough in the end as the Potters went on to grab the full three points.

Jonathan Howson and Elliot Bennett were booked for the Canaries.

Stoke travels to London next week to play Chelsea, while the Canaries host Wigan Athletic.

Queens Park Rangers 1 - 1 Everton

Tim Howard and Everton drew with Queens Park Rangers in Saturday Premier League play.

Howard started and played the 90 minutes for the Toffees.

Royston Drenthe opened the scoring in the 31st minute when he found the back of the net off of a 30 yard rocket for Everton.

Just five minutes later though Bobby Zamora headed home a Akos Buzsaky free kick to the delight of the home fans in London.

QPR is now above the relegation zone by just goal differential, while Everton, despite not winning, extends their unbeaten streak to 8 games.

Shaun Derry was booked for QPR, while Drenthe and Steven Pienaar saw yellow for Everton.

QPR plays Bolton next week in a relegation fight, while Everton hosts Tottenham Hotspur.

Fulham 5 - 0 Wolverhampton Wanderers

Clint Dempsey and Fulham emphatically beat Wolverhampton in Sunday Premier League action. Dempsey started and went the distance for Fulham, scoring two goals to help the Cottagers win.

Pavel Pogrebnyak grabbed most headlines, as the Russian notched a hat trick for Fulham. He scored the Cottagers two first half goals and grabbed a third in the 61st minute.

The Texan though was also instrumental in the Cottagers big win, as he scored in the 56th and 83rd minute, helping propel Fulham into the top half of the standings.

Wolves are now in the relagation zone, as they have only won one game in their last 15 in all competitions.

Brede Hangeland was booked for Fulham, while Wolves' Ronald Zubar and Christophe Berra saw yellow.

The Cottagers take on Aston Villa next week, while struggling Wolves host Blackburn Rovers in a relegation zone matchup.

Tottenham Hotspur 1 - 3 Manchester United

Brad Friedel and Tottenham Hotspur went down to Manchester United in a game with Premier League title implications. Friedel started and went the distance for Spurs.

Tottenham falls to 13 points behind league leaders Manchester City and 11 points behind United who are directly above them.

United took the lead in the last minute of the first half as Wayne Rooney headed home Ashley Young's corner kick.

Young then found the back of the net on his own in the 60th minute as he shot passed Friedel after a Nani ball was deflected to him just ten yards from goal.

Eight minutes later Young curled in a goal from just outside the box to ice the game and excite the visiting fans.

Jermain Defoe was able to get one back for Spurs in the 87th minute with an impressive shot from 20 yards out, but it was too little and too late for the London side.

Sandro was booked for Spurs, while Phil Jones and Jonathan Evans saw yellow for United.

Spurs take on Stevenage in FA Cup action this midweek, while United play West Bromwich Albion the coming weekend in league play.

Birmingham City 2 - 2 Derby County

Jonathan Spector and Birmingham City were held to a draw by Derby County in Championship action.

Spector started and went the distance for the Blues, while the Rams' Conor Doyle did not make the game day roster.

The game was looking good for City at the start as Erik Huseklepp and Marlon King found the back of the net in the 19th and 57th minutes respectively.

Derby County though came back with avengence as Steve Davies and Theo Robinson scored in a span of five minutes.

The Blues are now in the Championship's final playoff spot, leading Brighton & Hove Albion by just one point.

Curtis Davies, King, and Nikola Zigiz were booked for the Blues.

City takes on Chelsea in FA Cup action this week, while Derby plays Blackpool in the midweek.

Notts County 2 - 0 Carlisle United

Frank Simek and Carlisle United lost to Notts County in League One play. Simek started and went the distance for the Cumbrians.

Jonathan Forte opened the scoring for County in the 33rd minute with an impressive header, while Alan Sheehan found the back of the net on a free kick in the 38th minute to double their lead.

Notts County now jumps into a playoff spot in the standings, while the Cumbrains now trail them for that spot by three points.

Lubomir Michalik, Tom Taiwo, and Peter Murphy were booked for Carlisle.

Notts takes on Tranmere Rovers next, while the Cumbrians play Rochdale.


Eric Lichaj made the game day lineup for Aston Villa but did not feature in their draw against Blackburn Rovers. Brad Guzan was also on the bench for the Villains.

Daniel Potts made the game day lineup but did not play in West Ham United's win over Cardiff City.

Robbie Findley did not feature in Nottingham Forest's tie against Barnsley.

Robbie Rogers did not feature in Leeds United's tie against Southampton.

Mike Grella played the first 69 minutes in Bury's 3-3 draw at home against Huddersfield Town on Saturday in League One action.

Jon-Paul Pittman was a late substitute for Oxford United in their 2-0 Saturday-afternoon League Two win over Swindon Town.

Okay what else does klinsmann need to see whitbread should get capped for the US. Constantly starting games in the top league in the world..come on.
