Jonathan Spector and Birmingham City were knocked out of the FA Cup as they lost to Chelsea, while Robbie Findley and Nottingham Forest were defeated by lowly Doncaster Rovers in Championship action.

Birmingham City 0-2 Chelsea

Jonathan Spector and Birmingham City could not get the big win at home against Chelsea in FA Cup play.

Spector started and went the distance, while American teenager Will Packwood made City's game day roster but did not see the field.

After a scoreless first half, Juan Mata broke the deadlock when he latched onto a deflected Ramires ball and beat City ‘keeper Colin Doyle.

Raul Meireles then doubled the lead six minutes later when he rocketed a 25 yard ball into the top corner of the net.

Nikola Zigic was booked for Birmingham, while Chelsea's Fernando Torres saw yellow.

Birmingham takes on Coventry City this weekend, while Chelsea hosts Stoke City.

Nottingham Forest 1-2 Doncaster Rovers

Robbie Findley and Nottingham Forest went down to Doncaster Rovers in midweek Championship action.

Findley started and was subbed out in the 74th minute.

Doncaster now jumps out of last place and within three points of safety. Forest hold the last spot above the relegation zone.

Frederic Piquionne opened the scoring for Rovers just before halftime with a 30 yard strike.

Just after half time Kyle Bennett knocked in El-Hadji Diouf's pass in the 47th minute.

Pascal Chimbonda and Sam Hird were booked for Rovers.

Forest looks to bounce back as they take on Millwall in the weekend, while Doncaster travels to London to play West Ham United.

Carlisle United 2-1 Rochdale

Frank Simek and Carlisle United were victorious in the midweek over Rochdale in League One play.

Simek started and went the distance for the Cumbrians.

Jon Paul McGovern opened the scoring for the Cumbrians in the 57th minute after a scoreless first half, but Jason Kennedy leveled the score in the 74th minute.

Bernard Zoko though quickly regained the lead for Carlisle as he found the back of the net with a left footed goal in the 76th minute.

James Berrett was booked for Carlisle, while Joe Widdowson received a yellow card for Rochdale.

The Cumbrians look to mirror this game with a win over Bury this weekend, while Rochdale travels to play Huddersfield Town.

Notes

Brad Friedel did not feature in Tottenham's win over Stevenage in FA Cup action.

Conor Doyle made the game day roster for Derby County in their win over Blackpool, but the young American did not see the field.

Robbie Rogers did not feature in Leeds United's draw with Hull City.
