Tim Howard and Everton lost to Liverpool in the Merseyside derby, while Jonathan Spector was injured in Birmingham City's loss to Leicester City.
Liverpool 3 - 0 Everton
Tim Howard and Everton went down to Liverpool in the 217th Merseyside derby.
Howard started and went the distance for the Toffees.
Despite Everton going into the unbeaten in their last ten games and Liverpool having lost their last three, the Reds were still victorious.
Liverpool opened the scoring in the 34th minute when Steven Gerrard's left-footed shot from the edge of the 18-yard box beat Howard, who was out of position retreating back after an earlier save.
Gerrard got his second goal of the game in the 51st minute as Luis Suarez's run on the end line led him to find the Liverpool captain who fired home.
In stoppage time, Suarez found Gerrard again and the captain found the back of the net with his left foot from close range.
Jose Enrique was booked for Liverpool, while Steven Pienaar, Leighton Baines, Royston Drenthe, and Tony Hibbert saw yellow cards for Everton.
Since David Moyes joined the Toffees ten years ago, Everton has never won at Anfield.
Liverpool takes on Stoke City on Sunday in FA Cup play, while Everton hosts Sunderland in cup action as well.
Robbie Findley did not feature in Nottingham Forest's loss to Derby County. Conor Doyle did not feature for the Rams.
Jonathan Spector was subbed out of Birmingham City's loss to Leicester City in the tenth minute because of injury.
