AZ Alkmaar and USMNT forward Jozy Altidore was diagnosed with a back bruise and should not be out of action long. He does not have a concussion as previously feared.

"It's just a back bruise," AZ Alkmaar press officer Daan Schippers told YA on Friday. "He's still a bit doubtful for Sunday, but it's nothing serious."

Altidore has 15 Eredivisie goals for AZ Alkmaar this year and the club currently sits in 5th place in the league. The team's final game of the season is the Sunday against Groningen.

Altidore is expected to be part of the US national team's roster later this month for a series of friendlies against Scotland, Brazil, and Canada followed by the beginning of 2014 World Cup qualifying.

Thanks for the update, I had checked a couple of other sites without success. A relief that it is not serious.
