Matt Pyzdrowski impressed to help Angelholm win while Hammarby kept pace with Osters at the top of the Superettan table.
Angelholm FF 2 - 1 Landskrona BoIS
Matt Pyzdrowski and Angelholm continued their ascendance up the Superettan standings with a victory over Landskrona this weekend in a derby match.
After a scoreless first half, the game heated up in the final 45 minutes. Merely seconds into the second half, Angelholm went onto the attack and Fredrik Liverstam was forced to block a Martin Andersen shot. The deflection fell right to the feet of an unmarked Omid Nazari who slotted home from close range in the 47th minute.
Pyzdrowski made a phenomenal save on a Fredrik Olsson shot in the 56th minute to the strikers disbelief who admitted to the Swedish media after the game that he thought he'd equalized when the ball left his foot.
Robin Staaf would extend Angelholms lead in the 76th minute off of a free kick which deflected off the Landskrona wall into the net.
Landskrona refused to go quietly however. Linus Olsson received a cross from Patrik Astrom at the far post and was able to finish it to make the score 2-1 in the 78th minute.
Landskrona were able to put four shots on Pyzdrowskis net in injury time, but the American stood strong and continued what has been a fine season so far.
Angelholm, now fifth in the Superettan table face a challenge on the road next Thursday against Halmstad while Landskrona travel to face Falkenberg.
IK Brage 1 - 1 Ljungskile SK
Patrick Hopkins started but only made it forty minutes until coming off for Ljungskile.
Brage jumped out to the lead at home when Dragan Kapcevic played in a cross off a free kick which Daniel Akervall was free to nod home.
Ljungkile would make the most of their one shot on net for the game though. Brage were caught playing the ball carelessly around their own box and Bruno Santos was able to tie the game at 1-1 in the 39th minute.
Hopkins would come off the next minute and it's still to be seen if it were due to an injury.
Steffen Vroom came on for Ljungskile in the 63rd minute but was unable to break the deadlock.
Ljungskile look to continue on their four game unbeaten streak next week when they host Varberg while Brage are looking to win their first match in four weeks against Trelleborg.
Varberg BoIS 1 - 0 Degerfors IF
Brian Edwards and Degerfors weren't able to build on their first win last week as they fell to Varberg on Saturday.
Degerfors hoped the match would open up for them in the 42nd minute when Varberg defender and captain Anders Karlsson was sent off for his second yellow card.
Degerfors put initial pressure on to start the second half, but Varberg continued to push their own offense when the opportunity afforded itself. This paid dividends in the 63rd minute. Altermark Vanneryr exploded down the left flank into the penalty area when he cut the ball back to a wide open Patrik Larsson who thundered the ball into the net.
Degerfors weren't able to use their numbers advantage to create an equalizer and gathered another loss.
Degerfors host bottom feeders Varnamo next weekend while Varberg travel to face Ljungskile.
Halmstad BK 3 - 2 Jonkopings Sodra IF
Ryan Miller started and went the whole 90 minutes for Halmstad as they fought off a challenge from Jonkopings to get the win at home.
Kristinn Steindorsson started off the scoring for Halmstad in the 7th minute. Steindorsson burst into the left side of the Sodra box and smoothly slotted the ball into the far side of the net to give Halmstad the early lead.
Gudjon Baldvinsson continued his fine goal scoring form in the 22nd minute when he extended Halmstads lead to 2-0. Ryan Miller threaded a long pass to Baldvinsson at the edge of the box who took one touch and fired the ball into the right side of the net.
Miller was unlucky to play a part in another goal in the 40th minute. Sodra's Branimir Hrgota used some fancy dribbling to get the ball onto his left foot in the Halmstad box and fired a shot which deflected off Millers foot and into the net to cut Halmstads lead in half.
Halmstad extended their lead again in the 47th minute. Mikael Boman rose up in a crowd and was able to head home a corner kick to make the score 3-1.
Hrgota would get on the scoresheet again in the 86th minute. The ball reached Hrgota by chance as Jesper Svensson fired a long shot towards the Halmstad net which Tommy Thelin happened to deflect to Hrgota who was able to control the chance opportunity and fire it into the net with his left foot.
Sodra couldn't find the equalizer however and Halmstad walked away with the victory.
It will be an American showdown next week when Ryan Miller and his Halmstad teammates host Matt Pyzdrowski and Angelholm. Sodra hope to get back to their winning ways when the host Umea.
IFK Varnamo 0 - 1 Hammarby IF
Baggio Husidic started while Billy Schuler came off the bench once again for Hammarby as they stayed tied with Osters at the top of the table with a win over Varnamo.
It was a Christophe Lallet wonderstrike in the 28th minute that gave Hammarby the win. Andreas Dahl played Eric Figueroa down the left flank. Figueroa cut inside and laid the ball off to a waiting Lallet who took one touch to steady the ball then deftly curled it into the far post for a beautiful goal.
Varnamo did end up supplying some pressure throughout the course of the game, their best chance coming off a Martin Claesson shot which hit the crossbar but ricocheted away from the net.
Gregg Berhalters Hammarby hope to pick up another victory next weekend against Assyriska while Varnamo are still looking for their first win of the season next weekend against Degerfors.
Notes: Cobi Span made the bench for the first time this season for Djurgarden but was an unused subsitute in their 1-1 tie with Atvidaberg.
