PREVIEW: WEEKEND SWEDISH ACTION
RECAPS
EXTRA TIME
BRENDAN WIMBERLY - Saturday, June 9, 2012
Hammarby are looking to improve their lackluster play of late while numerous Americans will be forced to miss matches this weekend due to both injury and suspension.

Degerfors IF - Hammarby IF

Gregg Berhalter's Hammarby is looking to get back on track against Degerfors this weekend.

Billy Schuler and Baggio Husidic should both start for Hammarby, who are still third in the Superettan standings despite only grabbing two point from their last four matches.

Degerfors come in to the game 13th in the standings, but have improved their play lately.

Even in last weeks 4-1 loss to Falkenberg, Degerfors competed, going down a man in the eighth minute and not allowing a goal until well into the second half. Before Falkenberg poured on two late goals, Degerfors had been threatening to equalize.

The man sent off for Degerfors was American goalkeeper Brian Edwards. As a result of last weeks red card, Edwards will miss this weeks match.

Hammarby will be without defender Jose Monteiro, already a victim of yellow card accumulation.

Although both teams are dealing with significant suspensions, Degerfors aren't missing anyone due to injury while Hammarby are still facing the long term absence of defender Fadi Malke.

Halmstads BK - Varberg BoIS

Ryan Miller and Halmstad hope to continue their good form this weekend against Varberg.

Miller has been fantastic so far this season, being a rock defensively while also being very involved in the attack from right back.

While Halmstad sit fifth in the standings, Varberg are close behind them at seventh. A win could catapult Varberg over their opponents and potentially as high as third.

Halmstad face significant injury concerns as Michael Svensson, Kritinn Steindorsson and Kristoffer Thydell are all doubts to be ready for the game. Varbergs fortunes are markedly better, as they aren't missing any players of note.

Ljungskile SK - Falkenberg FF

Patrick Hopkins figures to start for Ljungskile against Falkenberg this weekend, but fellow American Steffen Vroom is still a doubt to make the squad after picking up an injury two weeks ago.

Ljungskile sit one spot directly above Falkenberg in the Superettan standings at ninth. Both teams improved their play after middling starts to the season, each team only losing once in their last five games.

Neither squads are facing any suspensions, and Vroom is the only injury of note for either side.

IF Brommapojkarna - Ängelholms FF

Matt Pyzdrowski will start in net for Ängelholm when they take on Brommapojkarna this Sunday.

Pyzdrowski has been solid all year for Ängelholm, but left much to be desired last week against Hammarby as he let a relatively easy strike for Andreas Dahl roll past him to give Hammarby the 1-1 tie.

Ängelholm have made a move up towards the top of the Superettan standings recently, as they sit sixth, two spots behind Brommapojkarna.

American Forward Lester Dewee is still out of action for Ängelholm with a long term injury, but looks to be the only major omission for either squad this weekend.
