Hammarby got back on track with a big win over Degerfors while Matt Pyzdrowski got torched in net against Brommapojkarna.
Degerfors IF 1 - Hammarby IF 3
Gregg Berhalter and Hammarby got back on track with a convincing victory on the road against Degerfors. Billy Schuler and Baggio Husidic both started for Hammarby while Brian Edwards missed the match for Degerfors due to a suspension.
Sinan Ayranci got grabbed the lead for Hammarby in the 31st minute. After Christophe Lallet smashed a shot off the post, a long rebound found its way to Eric Figueroa who fired a shot on net. Ayranci gave the ball a slight touch on its way through which caught the goalie slat footed as the ball slid easily into the left side of the net.
Amadaiya Rennie equalized for Degerfors in the 45th minute. The Liberian international collected the ball 20 meters from net and turned. Rennie turned and fired a right footed shot into the lower left corner of the net to make the score 1-1 going into half.
Monday James was unfortunate to receive a second yellow card on a relatively soft challenge in the 58th minute to leave Hammarby with only ten men for the rest of the game.
Billy Schuler made way for Max Forsberg came on in the 65th minute. Forsberg didn't take long to make an impact on the match. Forsberg received the ball at the top of the box in the 70th minute and proceeded to dribble by his defender, then sent a right footed shot across the face of goal and into the net.
Hammarby soldified the result in stoppage time. The ever lively Christophe Lallet gathered his fifth goal of the season from midfield. Lallet chased a long ball down field which Degerfors last defender misjudge, allowing Lallet to run uninhibited into the box. Lallet sent a simple chip over the keeper to make the score 3-1.
The win saw Hammarby rise up to second in the Superettan standings while Degerfors dropped to 13th.
Next week Degerfors face Angelholm away while Hammarby host Ljungskile.
Halmstad BK 3 - Varberg BoIS 1
Ryan Miller played the entire match for Halmstad as they prevailed over Varberg.
Patrik Larsson got Varberg on the scoreboard first in the ninth minute. After breaking through Halmstads backline, Larsson was able to lob the ball over the head of on rushing Halmstad keeper Kalle Johnsson.
Gudjon Baldvinsson equalized in the 11th minute. Johan Blomberg headed a long corner back in towards net and the Icelandic goal machine was able to toe poke the ball home for his seventh goal in ten games this season.
Mikael Boman gave Halmstad the lead in the 20th minute. Antonio Rojas received a pass from Kristinn Steindorsson and laid the ball back for Boman. Boman took a touch to control the ball and then fired a shot past the goalkeeper to give Halmstad the 2-1 lead.
Antonio Rojas scored a goal for himself in the 77th minute. Gudjon Baldvinsson drew a penalty kick which he allowed the Paraguayan midfielder to take. Rojas tricked the goalkeeper and sent the ball into the back of the net.
Next week Halmstad travel to take on Varnamo while Varberg host Umea.
Ljungskile SK 2 - 1 Falkenberg FF
Steffen Vroom is still battling an injury, but Patrick Hopkins played the entire match for Ljungskile as they gathered all three points over Falkenberg.
Falkenberg controlled the early pat of the match and Zlatan Krizanovic gave Falkenberg the lead in the eighth minute. Krizanovic picked up a loose ball on the edge of the box and one timed a nice left footed strike which the Ljungskile keeper was not able to keep out of the net despite getting a glove to it.
Ljungskile responded well however, Andreas Ljunggren Eriksson was played in down the right flank and sent a quality cross into the head of Bruno Santos who sent a nice header on net to tie score at 1-1 in the 15th minute.
Tobias Mikaelsson gave Ljungskile the lead in the 70th minute. The midfielder cut in from the right flank and sent a powerful left footed shot from 35 meters toward net. The goalkeeper extended, but the ball slid perfectly inside the right post, to make the score 2-1.
Ljungskile travel to take on Hammarby next week while Falkenberg host Trelleborg.
IF Brommapojkarna 4 - 0 Angelholm FF
It was a long day for Matt Pyzdrowski in Angelholms net as Brommapojkarna dominated the match en route to an easy victory.
Nabil Bahoui was the first to get on the score sheet for BP. Andreas Eriksson and Serge Ngouali combined nicely and found Bahoui wide open in the center of the penalty area. The striker didn't rush his opportunity and slotted past Pyzdrowski to make the score 1-0.
In the 53rd minute it was Bahoui again to extend the lead to 2-0. Bahoui lined up a shot from long distance which fit right inside the left post, past the outstretched hands of Pyzdrowski.
Pablo Pinones-Arce and Pontus Asbrink were brought on late in the match for BP and both would contribute towards solidifying the result. In the 78th minute Pinones-Arce dribbled nicely into the box, drawing a crowd of defenders before laying the ball off to a wide open Asbrink who finished the chance to make the score 3-0.
Pinones-Arce got a goal for himself in the 83rd minute. This time Asbrink supplied the service for Pinones-Arce who made the score 4-0.
Brommapojkarna face Brage next week while Angelholm hope to improve their fortunes against Degerfors.
