PREVIEW: WEEKEND NORWEGIAN ACTION
RECAPS
EXTRA TIME
MATHEW WAGNER - Friday, August 3, 2012
Steve Clark and Hønefoss will test themselves against leaders Strømsgodset, while Sebastian Troupe and Bærum's hopes of staying in the Adeccoligaen are hanging by a thread when they take on Sarpsborg.

Hønefoss BK - Strømsgodset IF Drammen

In a matchup of the league's two biggest surprises of the 2012 season, fourth place Hønefoss hosts league leader Strømsgodset.

American goalkeeper Steve Clark will start in net for Hønefoss, while forward Kenneth di Vita Jensen will look to make the lineup.

Both teams are polar opposites in terms of why each team has been successful thus far. Hønefoss' defense has stonewalled most teams, allowing only 18 goals in 17 games. Clark has recorded seven shutouts.

Meanwhile, Strømsgodset scores in bunches. The league leaders have recorded a league-best 38 goals, seven more than Brann in distant second.

Neither team is reporting any injuries at this time.

Mjøndalen IF - Ullensaker/Kisa IL

After stuttering the last two weeks, Mjøndalen once again has another chance to score points against a promotion rival.

American defender duo Kyle Helton and Rhett Bernstein should start in the back line for Mjøndalen.

Mjøndalen has used a five-game unbeaten streak to put itself right into the mix for promotion into the Tippeligaen, sitting three points behind the playoff spot and four points behind the automatic promotion spot.

Also in the mix, Ullensaker/Kisa mix, has fallen apart recently. The team lost four of the last five, dropping from tied-first to fifth place.

Neither team is reporting any injuries at this time.

Bærum SK - Sarpsborg 08 FF

Bærum clings to hope of surviving in the Adeccoligaen as it takes on Sarpsborg.

American defender Sebastian Troupe should start in defense for Bærum, as he has for most of the season.

Winning two games early last month, Bærum seemed as though it could make a run at staying in the Norwegian second division. Two losses later have all but erased the hope, as Bærum has returned to last place in the league.

Sarpsborg struggled recently as well, having a five-game losing streak, but last week's 4-1 win over HamKam put a stop to that slide.

Neither team is reporting injuries at this time.

Notes

American winger Josh Gatt is questionable for Molde's game against Sogndal, as he continues to recover from his strained hamstring.

American forward Chad Barrett is not likely to dress for Vålerenga Friday night as the team takes on Haugesund. Barrett still is going through the administrative process in Norway.
