In a busy Championship Tuesday, Mike Grella found the back of the net in a losing effort for Scunthorpe United, while Jonathan Spector and Birmingham City remain winless as they lost to Sheffield Wednesday.

Sheffield Wednesday 3-2 Birmingham City

Jonathan Spector and Birmingham City went down to Sheffield Wednesday in Tuesday Championship action.

Spector started and went the distance for Birmingham, while Will Packwood was an unused sub.

The win for Wednesday was their first of the season, as they drew this weekend against Derby County.

Wednesday opened the scoring in the 14th minute when Reda Johnson headed home after a handling error from Birmingham ‘keeper Jack Butland.

They would double their lead in the 39th minute when newly signed Rodri skillfully deceived the Birmingham defense and impressively finding the back of the net.

With 15 minutes left in the game, Birmingham City would get one back as David Murphy's cross was tapped in my Nikola Zigic.

Jermaine Johnson though would add another goal for Wednesday in the 89th minute, while Marlon King knocked in a consolation goal in injury time for City.

Rodri was booked for Wednesday, while Zigic saw yellow for Birmingham.

Wednesday takes on Millwall next, while Birmingham travels to take on Watford.

Scunthorpe United 1-2 Crewe Alexandria

Mike Grella's goal was not enough to help Scunthorpe United, as they lost to Crewe Alexandria at home.

Grella's goal was his first for Scunthorpe in a league game since arriving in the offseason. The forward started and went the distance.

Crewe Alexandria jumped to the early lead after Adam Leitch-Smith's rocket from 35 yards out found the back of the net in the 1st minute of the game.

Scunthorpe would respond in the 15th minute as Grella knocked in a rebound after an initial shot from David Mirfin hit the cross bar.

An unmarked Luke Murphy though would bag the winner for Crewe in the 73rd minute to give the road team their first points of the season.

Mathias Pogba was the only booking of the game for Crewe.

Scunthorpe takes on Yeovil Town this coming weekend, while Crewe Alexandria takes on Bretford.


Zak Whitbread did not feature in Leicester City's loss to Charlton Athletic.

Seb Hines was an unused sub in Middlesbrough's win over Burnley.

Robbie Findley did not dress in Nottingham Forest's draw with Huddersfield Town.

Tim Ream did not feature in Bolton's win over Derby County. Conor Doyle was an unused sub for Derby.

Robbie Rogers did not dress in Leeds United's loss to Blackpool.
