JOHN KRETLOW - Tuesday, August 28, 2012
Eric Lichaj and Brad Guzan hope to see playing time in Aston Villa's game against Tranmere Rovers, while Geoff Cameron could see the field in Stoke City's match with Swindon Town.

Aston Villa - Tranmere Rovers

Eric Lichaj, Brad Guzan, and Aston Villa host Tranmere Rovers in League Cup play.

Lichaj has seen limited minutes in the young Premier League season, but the defender is likely to see minutes on Tuesday. Villa also could give Shay Given a rest this midweek, giving Guzan a possible start.

Villa has lost their first two games of the season, conceding four goals and scoring one. They hope to get their some momentum by winning Tuesday's cup tie.

Tranmere has started their season strong, garnering seven points in three games in League One. Rovers hope to keep their strong form and take down the Premier League outfit in the midweek.

Samir Carruthers, Gabriel Agbonlahor, Marc Albrighton, and Richard Dunne look to miss for Villa.

Stoke City - Swindon Town

Geoff Cameron and Stoke City take on Swindon Town in Tuesday cup action.

Cameron made his league debut in Stoke's Sunday draw with Arsenal. The former Houston Dynamo could see time at midfield or defense against Swindon Town.

The Potters have started out the season with two draws, but they hope to grab victory in the midweek to bolster their momentum.

Swindon Town has started their League One season unbeaten in three games. They look to continue their strong play and give their Premier League opponent a tough time on Tuesday.

Dean Whitehead, who was suspended for Stoke's draw with Arsenal, could feature against Swindon Town.

Coventry City - Birmingham City

Jonathan Spector, Will Packwood, and Birmingham City travel to take on Coventry City in the League Cup.

Spector started and went the distance on Birmingham City's loss to Watford last weekend. He could see time on Tuesday.

Will Packwood did not dress in Birmingham's weekend loss, but the defender could feature against Coventry City.

Birmingham City's Championship campaign has thus far produced zero wins. They hope to grab a positive result and jump start their difficult season.

Coventry is also winless in their season, having tied all three games in League One play. They hope to garner a big win in front of their home fans on Tuesday.

Norwich City - Scunthorpe United

Mike Grella and Scunthorpe United take on Premier League team Norwich City in League Cup play.

Grella has been a regular in Scunthorpe's young season thus far and could feature in Tuesday's match.

Though Scunthorpe are at the bottom of the League One standings, Grella has featured prominently. The American forward has scored Scunthorpe's lonely goal this season.

Norwich is coming off a tough start to the Premier League season. They lost their first game to Fulham on a 5-0 scoreline, and improved this last weekend with a draw against Queens Park Rangers.

Elliot Ward is injured and unlikely to feature for Norwich.

David Moyes could rest Tim Howard in Everton's game against Leyton Orient.

Tim Ream hopes to feature in Bolton's game against Crawley Town.

Robbie Rogers hopes to start in Stevenage's game against Cody Cropper's Southampton.

Zak Whitbread is unlikely to feature in Leicester City's cup game against Burton Albion.

Clint Dempsey is unlikely to play in Fulham's game against Sheffield Wednesday.

Frank Simek could feature in Carlisle United's match against Swindon Town.

Robbie Findley hopes to feature in Nottingham Forest's cup tie against Wigan Athletic.
