BRIAN SCIARETTA - Thursday, August 30, 2012
US international Maurice Edu is now very close to finalizing his move Stoke City and club officials are now hoping to have him available this weekend.

"It could be done tomorrow and there is a chance we will have him for this weekend's game [against Wigan,]" a representative in the Stoke City media department told YA on Thursday.

Last week Edu agreed to personal terms with Stoke City but the deal was pending while the Fontana, California native awaited a work permit. That process could be resolved tomorrow. The worst case scenerio is that he makes his Stoke debut after the upcoming international break.

Edu, 26, is looking to leave Rangers after the club was sent to the Scottish Third Division follow a financial scandal that lead to administration and liquidation.

Stoke City have played to two draws in their opening two games of the 2012/12 English Premier League season. Earlier this month they sealed a move for fellow US international Geoff Cameron.
