BRIAN SCIARETTA - Monday, October 1, 2012
US U-20 head coach Tab Ramos named his 19 player roster for the upcoming Marbella tournament in Spain where they will face Canada, Scotland and Azerbaijan.

The roster contains many of the top players including Luis Gil, Benji Joya, John Anthony Brooks, Jerome Kiesewetter, Will Packwood, and Marc Pelosi.

Indeed, some of the players will enter into camp after breaking into their club's first teams. Will Packwood started the most recent game in the Championship for Birmingham City and Benji Joya is receiving playing time for Santos Laguna in the Liga Mx.

The tournament will be a welcome return for the Berlin-born John Anthony Brooks who has not been involved with the US team since last November. Last month he played in a camp for Germany's U-20 national team. Similarly, German -born Jerome Kiesewetter is on the team for the first time since signing a big four year contract with Stuttgart.

The tournament will also serve as the U-20 debut for Marc Pelosi who played for the United States at the 2011 U-17 World Cup. After that tournament he signed a professional contract with Liverpool where he currently plays for the prestigious club's U-21 team.

For the domestic based players, Ramos has named the highly touted duo of Luis Gil and Jose Villareal to the team. Gil has seen a significant amount of playing time this year for Real Salt Lake and Jose Villareal is now with the Galaxy's first team where he has earned positive reviews for his play.

The Marbella Cup will take place from October 6-17th in Marbella, Spain.
