JOHN KRETLOW - Thursday, October 4, 2012
Seb Hines was back in Middlesbrough's starting lineup in their draw with Derby County, while Will Packwood and Jonathan Spector featured in Birmingham City's loss to Cardiff City.
Middlesbrough 2 - 2 Derby County
After not starting for the last few games, Seb Hines rejoined Middlesbrough's lineup to the delight of US fans, playing the full ninety minutes in the team's draw with Derby County.
Theo Robinson opened the scoring from the penalty spot for Derby County in the 16th minute, but it only took three minutes for Boro to level when Lukas Jutkiewicz found the back of the net, as he pounced on a bumbled save from Derby keeper Frank Fielding.
Jutkiewicz notched again to put Boro ahead in the 81st minute when he met a Merouane Zemmama chip, though Paul Coutts knocked home the equalizer after Boro's defense failed to clear the ball in the 87th minute.
Hines was active throughout having plenty of defensive highlights in a game.
Middlesbrough has only won once in their last four league games, but they will try and get back to winning ways when they take on Watford this coming weekend.
Cardiff City 2 - 1 Birmingham City
Jonathan Spector started and went the distance in Birmingham City's loss to Cardiff City, while Will Packwood played 51 minutes for the Blues.
The win puts the Bluebirds at the top of the Championship standings and conserves their perfect record at home.
Cardiff opened the scoring in the 39th minute when Craig Bellamy finished a shot from 12 yards after an initial cross from Aron Gunnarsson.
Leroy Lita would equalize for the Blues though in the 54th minute when he connected with Wade Elliott's cross.
The Bluebirds went ahead just three minutes later when Mark Hudson found the back of the net after a Peter Whittingham cross.
The loss pits the Blues in the bottom half of the standings, but they will try to get back on track this coming weekend when they take on Huddersfield Town.
Zak Whitbread dressed but did not feature in Leicester City's win over Huddersfield Town.
Tim Ream did not play in Bolton's draw with Leeds United.
Frank Simek and Carlisle United's game against Bury was postponed.
Mike Grella played the final nine minutes in Scunthorpe United's loss to Tranmere Rovers.
Jon Paul Pittman did not dress in Oxford United's win over AFC Wimbledon.
Robbie Findley played the final fifteen minutes in Gillingham's win over Northampton Town.
