BRIAN SCIARETTA - Friday, November 9, 2012
After nearly a year away from the team, Nurnberg right back Timothy Chandler will return to the United States national team next week for a friendly against Russia.
Chandler, 22, made his debut with the US team in 2011 in a friendly against Argentina. To this day, however, he has only played in friendlies and is not captied to the US team.
Earlier this year, US head coach Jurgen Klinsmann said that Chandler was not committed to the US team leading to speculation that the German-born fullback was holding out hopes for a callup from the German national team.
"We can confirm that Timmy has accepted a callup," FC Nurnberg press officer Katharina Wildermuth told YA on Friday.
Through the first 10 games of the Bundesliga season, Nurnberg sit in 14th place with 11 points.
