PREVIEW: WEEKEND DUTCH ACTION
RECAPS
EXTRA TIME
BRENDAN WIMBERLY - Friday, November 16, 2012
Jozy Altidore looks to put in another stellar performance for AZ while Charles Kazlauskas and fifth place Helmond host sixth place Volendam.

FC Groningen - AZ Alkmaar

After returning to the US National Team this week, Altidore is on his way back to Holland to prepare for AZ Alkmaar's clash with Groningen on Saturday.

Again on Wednesday, Altidore struggled while wearing the Stars and Stripes. The striker was part of a starved American attack which struggled both to attain and maintain possession in the Russian end of the field.

Luckily for AZ, this hasn't been the case for Altidore on the club level. The striker has been prolific when his team has not. AZ are currently 12th place in the Eredivisie, a far cry from their fourth place finish last year.

Altidore has been effective up top however, scoring nine of his teams 19 goals in league, as his relationship with playmakers Adam Maher, Johann Gudmundsson and Erik Falkenburg continues to grow.

Groningen, currently in 10th place in the league, will be without Tom Hiariej on Saturday, while the prolonged absences of forward Fernando Lewis and midfielder Maarten Martens continue this weekend for AZ.

Helmond Sport - Volendam

Charles Kazlauskas and Helmond get back to work Friday when Volendam pay a visit to Lavans Stadium. The teams are neck and neck at the moment, as Helmond occupy fifth place with 22 points with Volendam merely a point behind in sixth place.

A win for either club could see them jump all the way up to second place in the Eerste Divisie. Spots two through seven packed incredibly tight at the moment, only separated by three points through 12 games.

Kazlauskas has been a key part of Helmond's early success. The Milwaukee native has started all 12 games for Helmond so far, contributing two goals in the process.

The only first team contributors injured for Helmond this week are Erik Quekel and Aart Verberne, however Juanito Sequeira will begin to serve a four game suspension for the red card he picked up against Sparta.

Volendam aren't reporting any injuries, but will be without Maikel van der Werff and Rok Roj due to suspensions.
