Wellington Phoenix has a golden chance to move up in the A-League standings when they host Western Sydney Wanders on Saturday at Westpac Stadium.

American central midfielder Alex Smith will start as he has been a key part of Wellington's team this year in terms of possession and defense.

Wellington enters into the game off an impressive two game road trip where they defeated Newcastle and drew Perth Glory. With a win over Western Sydney, Wellington could rise to as high as fifth place in the A-League.

Western Sydney is a club founded just this year and they have been off to a decent start with 10 points through their first eight games of their inaugural A-League season. They have won three out of their last five but lost last week to Melbourne Victory 2-0.

Western Sydney star forward, Shinji Ono, is still looking for his first goal of the season.

Wellington will have a full squad for the game but Western Sydney will be without the suspended Youssef Hersi and Aaron Mooy who is away on international duty.
