PREVIEW: WEEKEND ISRAELI ACTION
RECAPS
EXTRA TIME
ANDY SCHREUR - Friday, January 11, 2013
Bryan Gerzicich and Ironi Kiryat Shmona look to continue their point streak alive when they face last place Hapoel Haifa on Saturday.

Ironi Kiryat Shmona - Hapoel Haifa

The Blue Lions are coming off a scoreless draw on Monday with league leader's Maccabi Tel Aviv and will be anxious for another win and a chance to overtake Maccabi Haifa for sole possession of third place.

Hapoel Haifa are coming off a 2-1 win over Bnei Yehuda and can, with a win, climb out of the relegation zone.

Only nine matches remain in the Israeli League and Kiryat Shmona will need to continue to win if they want to reach their goal of qualifying for European competition again.

The point differential between third and tenth positions is seven and the Blue Lions will need a strong finish and some help if they're to qualify.

Kiryat Shmona have loaned midfielder Ravid Gazal to Hapoel Be'er Sheva for the remainder of the season effective immediately. Haifa have signed midfielder Liran Cohen, who has most recently played in the Polish second division and is expected to make his first appearance this weekend.

Notes

Transfer rumors continue to surround Leonard Krupnik and he is unlikely to play for Maccabi Netanya as they face Ashdod this weekend.

A big question for U.S. fans heading into the World Cup is surely on Jozy Altidore and just what is plaguing the young striker at Sunderland.
