Bryan Gerzicich and Ironi Kiryat Shmona were forced to settle for a disappointing draw against last place Hapoel Haifa this weekend.

Ironi Kiryat Shmona 1 - 1 Hapoel Haifa

Los Angeles-born Bryan Gerzicich went 76 minutes and picked up a yellow card Sunday as the defending champions limped to a draw with struggling Haifa. The Blue Lions dominated possession in the first half but missed several close opportunities to score.

Their only goal was put in by Haifa's Stefan Denković in the 58th minute. However, in the 63rd minute, Ran Abukarat scored his second goal of the season and preserved a draw for Haifa.

Kiryat Shmona had a great opportunity to make up some ground and distance themselves from Maccabi Haifa and Beitar Jerusalem and instead, are now looking up at them in the standings. The Blue Lions are in fifth with eight games to play. Haifa currently sit perilously in the relegation zone and tied for last place with Hapoel Acre.

Kiryat Shmona will travel to Hapoel Be'er Sheva on Saturday, who are currently in ninth position.

Notes

Leonard Krupnik did not play as Maccabi Netanya beat Ashdod 2-0.
