After failing to earn minutes in the first of the season with Stoke City, US national team midfielder Maurice Edu will head to Turkey to play for Bursaspor on loan.

"Maurice has just signed for our club," Bursaspor spokesman Huseyin Gedik told YA on Thursday.

The loan is for six months.

Edu, 26, signed with Stoke in August after Rangers were demoted to the Scottish third division after a financial scandal. In Scotland he won three Premier League titles but his move to Stoke did not result in playing time. In the first half of the 2012/13 season, Edu played in just one game for the Potters.

Edu played college soccer with the University of Maryland and turned professional in 2007 when Toronto selected him with the first overall pick in the MLS draft. In 2008 he left MLS to sign with Rangers.

Internationally, Edu has played with the US national team 42 times including appearances at the 2010 World Cup.
