EXTRA TIME
MATHEW WAGNER - Friday, January 25, 2013
Tim Chandler is cleared to play for Nürnberg on their visit to Dortmund, while Danny Williams is set to make his first start of the year for Hoffenheim.

Borussia Dortmund - FC Nürnberg

After passing concussion tests on Tuesday, Tim Chandler will man the right fullback position for Der Club when the team travels to Dortmund on Friday.

Chandler left Nürnberg's 1-1 tie to Hamburg last weekend in the 65th minute, when a close-range shot struck his head. The team feared he suffered a concussion from the shot, but it turned that he did not.

Der Club will need its best lineup against title-holders Dortmund. The Dortmunders blew out Werder Bremen last Saturday, putting in five goals and recording a shutout.

The team lies 12 points behind leader Bayern Munich putting any hopes of a third straight title practically out of reach, but Dortmund still wants to secure a Champions League place for next season.

Defender Neven Subotic will miss for Dortmund with a calf injury, while Nürnberg is not reporting any injuries at this time.

Eintracht Frankfurt - TSG 1899 Hoffenheim

Danny Williams will make his first start since December 7 for Hoffenheim, as he, Fabian Johnson and Hoffenheim face Frankfurt on Saturday.

During last weekend's 0-0 tie with Mönchengladbach, Williams stepped in for Sejad Salihovic in the 36th minute. Salihovic suffered a torn meniscus, and with him and fellow defensive midfielder Sebastian Rudy out because of an ankle injury, coach Andreas Müller will likely have no choice but to play the American.

For the team, last weekend's tie also was a huge morale booster, as the team recorded its third shutout of the season. In the Hinrunde, Hoffenheim had the worst defense in the league, allowing 41 goals in 17 matches.

Despite a loss to second-place Leverkusen, Frankfurt is still flying high. The Eagles still find themselves in the final Champions League place, two points ahead of Schalke.

Along with Salihovic and Rudy, Hoffenheim will be without defender Stephan Schröck and forward Sven Schipplock because of back problems and a torn tendon. Johnson is questionable with an undisclosed injury.

Frankfurt is not reporting any injuries at this time.

Notes

Knee problems continue to plague Hannover captain Steve Cherundolo, and he will not play for Hannover against Wolfsburg in the Niedersachsenderby on Saturday.

Right back Michael Parkhurst looks to start his second game with Augsburg on the bench when the team faces Schalke on Saturday. Midfielder Jermaine Jones will also miss that match for Scahlke, as he serves the second of his three-match suspension.

A big question for U.S. fans heading into the World Cup is surely on Jozy Altidore and just what is plaguing the young striker at Sunderland.
