US national team left back Edgar Castillo has suffered broken bones in his face and will undergo surgery on Monday.

Castillo, 26, was injured playing for Tijuana on Saturday night in their 1-0 loss to Atlas. Despite the injury, Castillo played the entire 90 minutes.

"Edgar will have surgery this afternoon in Tijuana," Castillo's agent Eddie Rock told YA on Monday. "The early word is that he should be back in the lineup in approximately 30 days."

Should that timeframe be accurate, Castillo will miss the upcoming crucial World Cup qualifiers against Mexico and Costa Rica. He will also miss Tijuana's upcoming Copa Libertadores games against
Corinthians.
