Orebro tries out the younger Bedoya

With the summer transfer window now open and many European clubs looking to acquire new players, Northeastern University left back Santiago Bedoya will depart for Sweden and go on a trial with Orebro of Sweden's top league, the Allsvenskan.

Bedoya, 21, is set to begin the trial this weekend and it will run through August 6. While at Orebro, Bedoya will play with his older brother Alejandro who is both a fixture for the club and likely to be a regular for the US national team in the 2014 cycle.

Bedoya will not lose his NCAA eligibility by going on the trial and can still return to Northeastern for his senior season.

Last season was Bedoya's first season at left back. Previously he had been used as an attacking left midfielder but his coach at Northeastern, Brian Ainscough, felt as if he would be best utilized in the back line.

The move to left back worked out well and as Bedoya was named to the All-CAA first team in just his first year playing the position.
