The Santos forward is now in Glasgow

It was announced today Santos Laguna and US U20 star forward Adrian Ruelas will be heading to Scottish giants Celtic for an extended period of time.

The terms of the deal are still unclear with each team reporting different terms.

"With regards to the player in question," Celtic said in a statement. "We understand he's an exceptional talent and we are looking at giving him the opportunity to come and train with Celtic. It should be noted that there is no formal loan or transfer agreement concerning the player at this stage."

The news from Santos however seemed to suggest the deal was more than mere training.

On their website this morning, they indicated that the deal was a one year loan with an option to buy but it is unclear how any issues of a work permit will be handled.

Ruelas, 19, is one of the top forwards on the US U20 national team after being introduced into the program by head coach Thomas Rongen in June at a camp in San Jose.

The Fontana, California native made headlines in July when he scored three goals for the US team at the Milk Cup in Northern Ireland.

He scored two goals against Denmark in the team's 3-2 win in the second game and another one in the championship game where the US defeated hosts Northern Ireland 3-0.

While the 6'2" Ruelas had never played a first team game for Santos Laguna, he has been considered a top prospect for the Mexican club.

The agreement to send Ruelas to Celtic is part of a cooperation agreement that now exists between the two clubs.
