Gooch is off to a good start in Holland.
JAMIE HILL - Friday, January 14, 2011
Oguchi Onyewu's Twente career is off to a good start.

In classic fashion, the burly defender scored off a corner kick in Twente's friendly against Sportfreunde Lotte, which competes in Germany's Regionalliga West.

The game finished 2-2, with Onyewu going the full 90 minutes.

The exhibition against Lotte was Twente's final friendly during the short Dutch winter break. The Eredivisie resumes on January 19, when Twente hosts Heracles.

Onyewu was beset by injuries at AC Milan and subsequently fell out of favor. His only appearance for Milan came as a substitute in a Champions League match against FC Zürich back on September 30, 2009.

While Onyewu may not break into the starting lineup until he becomes match-healthy, his loan to Twente offers a greater promise of playing time because the move reunites him with manager Michel Preud'homme, who is very familiar with the US national team defender from their days together at Standard Liège.
