Lichaj in action vs. Leeds
BRIAN SCIARETTA - Thursday, January 19, 2012
After missing the last five months with Aston Villa due to a hip injury, Erich Lichaj is nearing a comeback with the club.

Yesterday Lichaj played the first half for Aston Villa reserves in a 7-1 win over Wolverhampton reserves at right back.

Lichaj, 23, signed with Aston Villa in 2007 and featured with their reserve team in the past.

In 2009 he made his first of three loan stints when he went on loan to League 2 club Lincoln City. In 2010 he was loaned to Leyton Orient of League 1 and in early 2011 he was loaned to Leeds United of the Championship where he became a regular starter and earned frequent praise from his coach, the media, and the fans.

Lichaj has seen occasional minutes with Aston Villa's first team and has appeared in five English Premier League games.

Lichaj has earned eight caps with the US national team where he featured at the 2011 Gold Cup.
