USMNT captain Carlos Bocanegra could be out at Rangers

With the financially strapped Rangers now in administration, the future of the three Americans at the club is in limbo.

According to numerous reports, the players at the club have rejected pay cuts and now the club is likely going to be forced to cut players in the coming days.

The most likely of the three Americas to be waived would be Alejandro Bedoya and US national team captain Carlos Bocanegra. Both players joined the club last summer to longer term deals.

It is also widely speculated that MLS clubs are interested in both Bedoya and Bocanegra.

The third American on the club, Maurice Edu, could remain at the club because given his age and contract status, could command more value in this summer's transfer market. Last summer the club rejected two bids from French club Sochaux.

The Rangers financial situation has also disrupted the team on the field. In addition to a mandatory 10 point reduction in the Scottish Premier League standings for entering into administration, Rangers have lost their last two home games to Hearts and Kilmarnock.
