Holden being taken off the field in 2011

Stuart Holden hasn't played with Bolton's first team since March 2011 but he announced this week will be staying with the club next season.

Bolton Wanders are in the middle of a fierce relegation battle and to stay in the Premier League, they must beat Stoke on the road while hope Manchester City defeat Queens Park Rangers.

Holden has been injured since March 2011 after a vicious tackle by Manchester United's Jonny Evans left him with a torn ACL. In October, he suffered a setback and is not expected to return until next season.

Even with the threat of relegation hanging over their heads, Holden told The Bolton News this week that he will remain with the club even if they are relegated to the Championship. Prior to being injured, Holden was in the middle of a breakout season for Bolton where he was earning the reputation as one of the league's better central midfielders.
