Landon Donovan will not retire

Landon Donovan will return to the field according to Los Angeles Galaxy head coach Bruce Arena.

At the opening of Galaxy preseason camp, Donovan was not present by Bruce Arena did speak with reporters and confirmed Donovan would return to the team.

"He's definitely returning this year," Arena told the press. "We're just working on a return date."

It is not yet certain when or if Donovan will return to the field for the US national team in 2013 but in returning to the Galaxy it is unlikely he retires from the national team.

Donovan's future had been clouded in uncertainty following the Galaxy's triumphant 2012 MLS Cup victory over the Houston Dynamo on December 1. Over most of the past two months, many did not know if Donovan would keep playing or elect to return to soccer.

US head coach Jurgen Klinsmann has already said that he will not consider Donovan for the World Cup qualifier on February 6 against Honduras but Donovan is still a possibility for the qualifiers in March.
