MLS is playing hardball with Stoke for Shea
BRIAN SCIARETTA - Tuesday, January 22, 2013
MLS has reportedly rejected Stoke City's bid to acquire FC Dallas winger Brek Shea.

Last week it was reported by many outlets that FC Dallas and Stoke had come to terms on an agreement on a transfer for Shea pending a physical. MLS, however, has the final say in transfers of league players and has reportedly rejected the deal in seeking a higher price.

Shea, 22, is coming off a disappointing season in 2012 where he was played hurt for long stretches and appeared to not be getting along with FC Dallas head coach Schellas Hyndman.

In November, Shea underwent surgery on his foot and was expected to be out 12-14 weeks. He has returned to practice recently but is not able to participate in all drills.

The transfer window ends on January 31.
