Buriram United are in the Group Stages of Asia's Champions League
JAMIE HILL - Friday, February 15, 2013
American midfielder Anthony Ampaipitakwong is quietly doing very well at Buriram United in Thailand

This week, Ampaipitakwong and Buriram advanced to the 2013 AFC Champions League group stage after Buriram United defeated the Brisbane Roar on penalty kicks following a 0-0 draw in the qualifying playoff. Ampaipitakwong started and was subbed off in the 103rd minute.

Buriram will be underdogs in a group in the East Asian bracket that includes FC Seoul, Vegalta Sendai, and Jiangsu Sainty. No Thai club has advanced from the group stage since BEC Tero Sasana reached the final in the 2002-03 competition.

The former Akron Zip joined the Thai Premier League club in 2012 after falling out of favor with the San Jose Earthquakes.
