Brek Shea is among the players that will head to the World Cup draw
RYAN NOEL - Thursday, November 19, 2009
MLS has announced an 18-man roster for the annual Generation Adidas trip overseas.

This year, the young MLS standouts will be playing games in South Africa and also get a chance to see the 2010 World Cup Draw live in Cape Town. The team will play a couple of exhibition games with some South African reserve teams and will be in Cape Town on December 4 for the draw.

Among the players called in are five FC Dallas teammates, including United States Under-20 National Team players Brek Shea, Josh Lambo, and Peri Marosevic. Danny Cruz of the Houston Dynamo is the only other United States U-20 World Cup player to make the team.

Two of the top MLS rookies - rookie of the year Omar Gonzales and #1 MLS SuperDraft pick Steve Zakuani - have been left off of the roster.

Columbus Crew head coach Robert Warzycha, along with his coaching staff, will be coaching the team throughout the trip.

The players will leave next Friday, the day after Thanksgiving, and return from the trip on December 8.

Generation Adidas has taken a team overseas for the last three years, visiting England (2006, 2008) and Spain (2007).
