Erik Palmer-Brown and Austria Vienna make triumphant Bundesliga return
KENYA BROWN - Wednesday, June 3, 2020
The Austrian Bundesliga resumed its season on Tuesday, with Erik Palmer-Brown stepping foot on the field.

Like the majority of leagues across Europe, Austria shut down its own following the global spread of Covid-19. But as the number of infections starts to lower and the country begins to slowly reopen, that has allowed the top-flight league to carry on with 10 games left to play.

Erik Palmer-Brown and Austria Vienna got the ball rolling once again on Tuesday as they came away with a 1-0 win over Admira Wacker in the relegation round. The young center-back, who is on loan from Manchester City, started and went the distance as the team hopes to finish in one of the top two spots for the Europa League playoff.

Both teams clearly were trying to knock off the rust after the long lay-off as they lacked sharpness in the final third, but the host came away with the win thanks to a goal from Dominik Fitz in the 67th minute.

A good start for Austria Vienna, but they will have to maintain their form as the league will have a grueling schedule - games are scheduled to be played every three days in hopes of finishing by the first week of July.

Austria Vienna sits atop of the relegation group with 15 points. Their next game will be on Saturday when they face St. Polten.
