Jesse Marsch has claimed a personal accolade as he's been named Coach of the Year in Austria.

The news, which was announced on Sunday, adds to the resume of the 46-year-old who was appointed as head coach of Red Bull Salzburg in 2019. He would go on to set milestones as he became the first American-born coach to win domestic honors - the Austrian Bundesliga and Austrian Cup titles. He also became the first American to coach in the UEFA Champions League.

When the Austrian Bundesliga returned to action in May following its suspension due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Marsch led his team on a tear as they went unbeaten in 11 games to finish ahead of the pack in the 10-game championship round. Despite losing key players such as Earling Haaland and Takumi Minamino in the winter transfer window, the coach made the necessary adjustments to ensure that they collected all the titles on offer to them.

With the league now done for the season, Marsch will be hard at work putting together a team that will look to continue to dominate domestically as well as progress through the Champions League.
