PREVIEW: WEEKEND ENGLISH ACTION
Clint Dempsey looks to help Tottenham in their game at Swansea City, while Brad Guzan and Aston Villa continue their relegation zone fight against Liverpool.
Swansea City - Tottenham Hotspur
Clint Dempsey hopes to make his return to Tottenham's lineup when they take on Swansea City.
The Texan played in both US qualifiers and now could play part in Saturday's matchup. Dempsey had missed games prior because of a calf injury.
Spurs go into the weekend's game on a three-game losing streak in all competitions. The London team currently has the last Champions League position, but leads Arsenal by just four points. They also trail Chelsea by just a point in the standings for third place.
The Swans have lost two games straight, however they are in no danger of the bottom three. They are winners of the League Cup and will play in Europe next season.
A win for Swansea would be their first over Tottenham since 1982.
Michael Dawson is likely to miss for Spurs.
Everton - Stoke City
Geoff Cameron and Brek Shea look to help Stoke City snap out of a four game winless skid in Premier League play against Everton.
Both Shea and Cameron took part in the USA's qualifiers this last week and could see time with the Potters. Tim Howard however is still recovering from a back injury and will not play for the Toffees.
Stoke's dip in form has dropped them into the bottom half of the standings and just seven points above the drop zone. A win and three points will sure help the team and its fans relieve some pressure.
Everton has won three out of their last four games in all competitions. Three points could bolster them ahead of Arsenal and into a Europa League position.
Marouane Fellaini is suspended and will miss for the Toffees.
Aston Villa - Liverpool
Brad Guzan and Aston Villa continue their relegation fight against Liverpool at home on Sunday.
The American ‘keeper starred in both of the US' qualifiers last week and looks to keep that strong momentum for Villa this weekend.
Villa goes into Sunday's match three points above the drop zone and has won two straight games. A win this weekend would be huge for the Villains campaign to stay in the EPL.
The lost their last game to Southampton, but had gone four games straight with victories prior to that. Liverpool trails Arsenal by five points for the Europa League qualification position in the league.
Liverpool could see Jamie Carragher and Pepe Reina return from injuries on Sunday.
Villa's Ciaran Clark and Brett Holman are questionable to feature, while Stilian Petrov and Richard Dunne are long term injury worries.
Carlisle United - Shrewsbury Town
Frank Simek is expected to start in Carlisle United's game against Shrewsbury Town at Brunton Park.
The Cumbrians are coming off a high scoring draw with Yeovil Town. They have just won once in their last nine games, and with seven games left in the season they are eight points above the drop zone.
Town is just two points below Carlisle, putting them just six points above the bottom four. They have garnered four points in their last two games however, and now they hope to keep that momentum going with three points.
Jonathan Spector is not likely to feature in Birmingham City's game against Crystal Palace because of injury.
Stuart Holden could see his first playing time for Sheffield Wednesday in their game against Barnsley.
Conor Doyle hopes to see time in Derby County's game against Bristol City.
Zak Whitbread could see the field in Leicester City's match with Millwall.
Seb Hines hopes to see the field in Middlesbrough's game against Wolverhampton.
Tim Ream and Bolton take on Charlton Athletic.
Jon Paul Pittman and Oxford United take on Morecambe.
