RECAP: STANDARD LIEGE 0-0 ANDERLECHT
Anderlecht's good run up to the play-offs ended with the play-offs as they could only muster a scoreless tie against Standard Liege.
American Sacha Kljestan went the full 90 minutes for the defending champions and Serbian Milan Jovanovic was back int eh line-up after suspension but that mattered for nothing as Anderlecht was unable to find the back of the net against Oguchi Onyewu's old team.
Having lost at home to Genk last week, Anderlecht desperately needed all three points to stay at the top of the group although they were on the road. They started out well as Lucas Biglia and Kljestan had first half chances that were snuffed out due to some superb Standard defending.
Les Rouches came out of the locker room to start the second half with a bit more fire in their bellies as Laurent Ciman and Yoni Buyens put Anderlecht's number one, Silvio Proto to the test.
Late in the game Proto saved his team yet again as he denied Japan's Kensuke Nagai. Minutes later, with just minutes left in the game Matais Suarez had a great chance at breaking the deadlock but Jell Van Damme saved the day.
The tie still allowed Anderlecht to hold on to the top spot only because Zulte-Waregem could also only muster a tie, although this time it was a goal apiece. Les Mauves maintain their one point lead and will host Club Brugge next weekend.
