Tony Taylor was a late substitute for Estoril as their Europa League hopes took a hit with a loss to Caleb Patterson-Sewell's Setubal.

Vitoria de Setubal 1-0 Estoril

Paulo Tavares scored the game's only goal from the penalty spot in the 63rd minute, though both teams created several dangerous chances only to be spurned by strong goalkeeping.

Estoril's Vagner and Setubal's Polish ‘keeper Pawel Kieszek both made multiple impressive saves to keep the game knotted at zero before Tiago Gomes earned a yellow card for bringing down Pedro Santos in the box in the 62nd minute.

Taylor was brought on for Carlos Eduardo in the 79th minute but in the final 10 minutes it was actually the hosts who came closest to scoring and icing the game.

Caleb Patterson-Sewell once again served as Setubal's backup goalie.

The win moves Setubal five points clear of relegation, while Estoril now sit a single point ahead of Nacional and Maritimo for Portugal's final Europa League spot.

Estoril will next host Braga next week and Setubal will travel to Porto.

Steven Silva Rodrigues watched from the bench as Leixoes defeated Porto B 2-1 in the second division. They remain in third place, two points behind Arouca in the race for promotion.
