RECAP: STROMSGODSET 6 - 1 HONEFOSS
Steve Clark and Hønefoss were at the receiving end of a shellacking from second-place Strømsgodset on Sunday.
Clark manned the net once again for Hønefoss in the losing effort.
It took just one minute for Strømsgodset to opening the scoring. Stefan Johansen passed the ball to Ola Kamara, who stood completely unmarked around the penalty spot. Clark charged out, but Kamara turned around the American goalkeeper before slotting the ball into the empty net.
Hønefoss equalized in the 22nd minute, thanks in large part to a goalkeeper error. Strømgodset's Adam Larsen Kwarasey slipped on a back pass and, under pressure from a Hønefoss forward, directed a pass straight to Riku Riski. Hønefoss' main offensive threat placed the ball into the back of the net with a shot from outside the box.
It didn't take long for Strømsgodset to respond, and the team took it to the visitors by scoring three goals in seven minutes. It started with Øyvind Storflor's goal in the 24th minute. A Hønefoss defender deflected the Martin Ovenstad cross from the left wing, but the ball landed with Storflor on the right of the net. Storflor then scored from a tough angle.
The home team doubled its lead in the 29th minute, once again off a cross. Lars Christopher Vilsvik sent in his from the right side of the 18-yard box near the end line, and Adama Diomandé was there to tap it into the net.
Kamara finished off Strømsgodset's seven-minute scoring spree in the 30th minute, helped out by a Jan Storbӕk pass that put up in a good position. Kamara had the ball on the right side of the six-yard box and squeezed his shot under a charging Clark to score.
Strømsgodset added another goal in the 70th minute through Peter Kovacs. The substitute headed in Razak Nuhu's cross from the left side, beating Clark to the left post for the goal.
Kamara added insult to injury by completing his hat-trick in the second minute of stoppage time, and Hønefoss' torture ended shortly thereafter. With the loss, Hønefoss dropped into 15th place and the last direct relegation position. The team returns to action next Sunday against Aalesund.
