PREVIEW: CERCLE BRUGGE - ANDERLECHT
After a poor season opener at home Anderlecht will look to steady the ship when they travel to take on Cercle Brugge on Friday night in Pro League action.
American Sacha Kljestan came off the field after 25 minutes in that game with a torn ear. Although the team hasn't made an announcement yet, it is expected that the Seton hall alumni will miss this clash.
Senegalese central defender Cheikhou Kouyate will miss out as well as he serves the last game of suspension for a red card he picked up at the end of the last season. Ronald Vargas underwent surgery last week so will be out for a couple of months as well.
On a more positive note, Andy Najar has returned from national team duties where he competed in the Gold Cup with Honduras. Anderlecht have also announced the arrival of Luka Milivojevic who is a Serbian international and is expected to replace Lucas Biglia who was sold in the summer.
Cercle Brugge scraped out a 1-1 tie against Mons on the road but will find the champions a lot tougher to break down. At this time the team reporting no injuries so head coach Lorenzo Staelens will have his choice of a starting XI.
The game kicks off 2:30 p.m. Eastern Standard Time and 8:30 p.m. Belgian time to start off Week 2 of the Pro League.
