Charles Kazlauskas and Helmond squandered a lead over De Graafschap to remain winless while Aron Johannsson continued his scoring streak in AZ's win over Waalwijk.

Helmond Sport 1 - 1 De Graafschap Doetinchem

Charles Kazlauskas played the full 90 minutes for Helmond on Friday evening, as a late rally by visiting De Graafschap Doetinchem forced the team to settle for a draw.

Helmond looked to be on the way to their first win of the season after Serhat Koc took the ball off the foot of a careless defender in the 15th minute, and fed Stanley Elbers who was streaking in from the left for an acrobatic shot past keeper Theo Zwarthoed.

The hosts looked the dominant force throughout the remainder of the first half and much of the second, but were dealt a blow when defender Ferry de Regt was sent off for his second yellow of the game in the 70th minute.

This dearly cost the hosts, as their depleted defense was unable to hold the lead until the final whistle. A long kick out of the backfield from visiting keeper Zwarthoed was headed on by substitute Tim Bakens to Jordan Garcia-Calvete for an all-too-easy equalizer.

Still winless after 3 games, 16th-place Helmond are beginning to lose pace with the league's leaders, and will try to right the ship on Friday when they visit VVV-Venlo.

Aron Johannsson extended his scoring streak to three games for AZ on Saturday, netting their first goal in their 2-1 road win over RKC Waalwijk. See Michael Adubato's Press Box Report for more details.
