RECAP: TELSTAR 2 - 3 HELMOND SPORT
Talisman Dave Nieskens struck four minutes into stoppage time to help Charles Kalauskas and Helmond prevail over Telstar for their first win since September 20.
Helmond were able to get on the board first in the 29th minute as Serhat Koc struck from close range to take the initial lead. Telstar wait long to respond however, as Daryl van Mighem latched onto a botched punch from Helmond keeper Wouter van der Steen and sent a sliding finish into the net in the 35th minute.
Not to be outdone, Koc came back for more in the 38th minute. The striker outmuscled ex-Helmond teammate Sjaak Lettinga in order to send home a goal to make it 2-1. Shortly after halftime, van Mighem answered Koc's second goal with a second of his own, set up by attacking partner Diangi Matusiwa to tie the game in the 50th minute.
Helmond were entrenched in their own defensive end and looked fortunate to be in contention for a single point when a poor clearance from Telstar defender Calvin Mac-Intosch gave them a corner four minutes into second half added time. 19 year-old defender Dave Nieskens rocketed home a header from ten meters out from ten meters out to give the guests the win.
Kazlauskas received a yellow card in the 86th minute, his second of the season, and will receive a one match ban the next time he is booked.
Helmond climb to seventh place with the win, only five points away from first place in the Eerste Divisie. They're next game comes on Friday when they face Jong PSV.
