U.S TO HOST SOUTH KOREA
BRIAN SCIARETTA - Tuesday, December 3, 2013
The United States will open 2014 with a friendly against South Korea on February 1 at the Stubhub center in Carson, California. The game will conclude the annual January camp.

With many top American players now playing in MLS, this year's January camp should provide more preparation for the World Cup than in previous years. With Matt Besler, Omar Gonzalez, Graham Zusi, Landon Donovan, Brad Evans, and Kyle Beckerman based domestically, Jurgen Klinsmann will have the chance to build his team.

The opponents, South Korea, have also qualified for the World Cup and should provide solid competition for the American team. It will be the first meeting since the 2002 World Cup when the U.S played to a 1-1 draw against hosts South Korea. In that game, Clint Mathis scored a memorable goal when he received a pass from John O'Brien and fired home a well-placed shot. Also in that game, Brad Friedel came up with a terrific penalty save.
